I Dreamed 06:40
I dreamed you were a mother coming home from an abortion I dreamed you were a warrior home from Vietnam there was something you were missing I dreamed you were a teenager drunk driving down the freeway in the arms of a semi waiting to crash and burn there was something you were just about to learn I dreamed... I dreamed you were a colonial home in flames at the foundation while your grandma in the attic waits to be rescued or heard I’ll die if my children die I’ll die if their dreams don’t survive they are my heart and soul when you kill there’s a body when you kill there’s a body when you kill there’s a body when you kill… America you dreamed my mixed-blood body to your shores before they were yours Chinaman, Puritan, German immigrant, Irish, Catholic, free Negro slave, interned Japanese, Jewish refugee, free Mexican body in the sand Syrian body in the waters America you dreamed my mixed-blood body to your shores before they were yours and when it all comes out this trail you forge this trail is tears and blood red blood I dreamed...

Dzhokhar 02:53
260 wounded by fate wrapped in a backpack of senseless hate 18 limbs shed 3 humans dead in the bombs at the finish line there but by god’s grace go I there but by god’s grace go I there but by god’s grace go I a teenage boy hides in a boat waiting to get shot as he scrawls a note America, an eye for an eye your acts of war aren’t behind us whichever of us should meet god first will quench our justice thirst or take the early train to hell there but by god’s grace go I there but by god’s grace go I 7 women, 5 men locked in the courtroom deciding autopsies and videotape they’re watching what kind of bond is this? glutting our eyes on death for 15 hours Dzokhar waits his lack of remorse sealed his fate

I've got a river of life flowing out of me Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see Opens prison doors, sets the captives free I've got a river of life flowing out of me Spring up a well into my soul Spring up a well and make me whole Spring up a well and give to me that life abundantly Up on Jordan's shores we will dance all day we won't have no tears they've been wiped away so shake off all your fear, shake off all your fright Come on, Christian, dance! dance with all your might

I'm single in December and now that I remember how much it sucks I try to erase those 31 days from my google calendar but my iphone overrode me Apple Corporation must really hate single people Those damn boyscouts again Christmas tree fundraiser, they've suckered me in but without another person it should come as no surprise that when loading my tree that bungee snapped me in the eye In this wannabe socialist state where everyone in need finds a place what would it take to pay a couple hundred bureaucrats to set up a system ten percent efficient take care of my needs, oh Mass mother and give me A state issued lover helps me get through December I need a state issued lover just like every other that comes and goes Oh you could take me to the movies or just watch TV or if you're totally desperate, a date at the DMV Forget all those parties where we'd rather not be my half-hearted partner and me or we could play checkers by the fireside drinking eggnog and shots until you say goodnight and when you get up to go you lean in for that drunk kiss and we both kinda miss but that's all right No illusions of grandeur about the government standard state-insignificant other cuz he's just my state issued lover... And when January comes and we go our separate ways fill out our online forms so the bureaucrats get paid I'll let the government know that you'd been totally great though I wouldn't go out past our expiration date And as you say goodbye you hand me that gift so thoughtfully found on my Amazon wish list a Brookstone back massager cuz I won't get touched no more by my state-issued lover

Well I visited your church full of immigrants your worship leader looked and sang like Chris Tomlin and you preached a 45 minute sermon and it was...boring You were talking about telling the truth you tried to make it relevant to our issues like paying our taxes when they're due and topics relevant to dudes like you but you didn't really help us know how to tell the truth when we always get groped at TSA How do we tell the truth about abuse? Oh don't worry I like you This is not about you it's just a song about un-woke white dudes Well I went to the wedding of a beaming bride You could feel the whole church pulse with joy and pride until you started speaking on Ephesians 5 (every single lady kinda wanted to die) You were talking about the mystery of how wives should submit and when the going gets rough, grit your teeth and commit (I think the Holy Spirit inspired me to vomit) cuz I know there's so much more to matrimony than this but I might have to search outside this church to feel the love tonight, feel the love tonight Oh don't worry I like you This is not about you it's just a song about It's just a song about depressing wedding preaching like yours It's just a song about church-sanctioned sexism We want all the Sundays Not just any Sunday All those stolen Sundays We want them back! I talked to a witch the other day who had sold her cross necklace for a broomstick, a broomstick To find spiritual power and do magic tricks feels a whole lot better than always getting fixed She had wanted to ascend to the highest level but the priests had always told her they looked more like Jesus than she did that to feed people God she'd have to be a man Well, trans don't fly in that kind of church so her spirit couldn't go sky high If you wanna build a glass ceiling, be prepared to say goodbye Oh don't worry I like you This is not about you it's just a song about It's just a song about all these things I'm thinking about it's just a song about justifiably angry feminism We want all the Sundays...

about

*Proceeds go toward the purchase of instruments for a music making/recording session of Native American students this summer*

Bring out the Bodies is a compilation of songs created during our time at seminary, where we improvised on embodying the image of God as Christian-and-American, male-and-female, Black-Brown-and-White. In that spirit, we dedicate this compilation to anyone still awaiting justice, and thank Jesus for leading the way to a world in which no body’s end is a forgotten grave.
